Johannesburg, South Africa, 23 January 2019: With the accelerated pace of change and shift of business priorities in many organisations, Human Resource Executives find themselves having to come up with new solutions that will capacitate their employees to adapt to the changes of the working environment.

The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Talent Management Seminars is aimed at providing a solution for the working environment in municipalities across, guiding them how to be adept in today’s dynamic work environment.
The 2nd SALGA Talent Management Seminar will come alive in Birchwood Conference Centre in Gauteng on the 30 to 31 January 2020 and will be attended by Municipal Managers, Human Resource practitioners, Heads of Portfolios, Skills Development Facilitators, Training managers and Education Training and Development practitioners, among others.

Attendees can expect to engage with speakers such as Professor Tshilidzi Marwala – Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University of Johannesburg who is an expert on the topic of the 4th Industrial Revolution.  Professor Marwala will give a keynote address on the Changing World of Work from the 4th Industrial Revolution Perspective.

The 2nd SALGA Talent Management Seminar, aptly themed “Building municipal resilience for complexity and change from an integrated talent management perspective”, promises a two-day programme that covers a variety of topics from a range of esteemed industry experts and thought leaders.

SALGA saw a need to create these seminars after conducting various Human Resource assesments that mainly focused on enabling leadership and enhancing the skills.
Rio Nolutshungu – Chief Officer: Municipal Capabilities and Governance explains:  “This seminar is a deliverable of SALGA’s Centre for Leadership and Governance, which is anchored by three core principles, namely Learning, Sharing and Reflection. The aim is to drive a development agenda through active reflection and thought leadership programmes.”

As part of its strategic agenda, SALGA formulates and implements a range of leadership focused interventions aimed at enhancing the capacity of municipalities to adequately respond to the challenges facing local government. These interventions take various forms, from facilitated leadership conversations, executive coaching, training sessions, through to blended learning programmes. These interventions are implemented through the SALGA Centre for Leadership and Governance (SCLG).
