SALGA in partnership with The Presidency hosts the Just Energy Transition (JET) Conference

The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is proud to partner with The Presidency for the inaugural Just Energy Transition (JET) Municipal Conference, taking place on August 26-27, 2024, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.
The conference aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss the role of municipalities in South Africa's Just Energy Transition. The focus will be on modernizing local electricity infrastructure, ensuring affordable energy access, and addressing financial, technical, and managerial challenges.
Objectives:

• Assess key JET issues facing the municipal sector
• Evaluate the current electricity distribution landscape
• Share international implementation lessons
• Establish institutional arrangements to drive JET investment in electricity distribution infrastructure and energy access
