"Defining the Energy Future of Local Government"

The Energy Summit is envisioned to be a strategic conversation that integrates the various perspectives of the energy system, resulting in a common understanding of the big picture and the key factors that have a significant impact on the energy sector in Local Government, with the final objective of initiating policy shifts in the energy sector.

All municipalities are entitled to be represented by up to four (4) delegates comprised of the Executive Mayor/Mayor, Member of Mayoral Committee/ Portfolio Committee Chairperson: Technical Services (Electricity), Municipal Manager and Head/Director: Technical Services (Electricity).  Registration fee for the Local Government Energy Summit is free of charge to the municipal delegates mentioned above.  Should the municipality wish to send more than four (4) delegates kindly note that a registration fee of R6000.00 per delegate will be payable.

The Energy Summit is envisioned to be a strategic conversation that integrates the various perspectives of the energy system, resulting in a common understanding of the big picture and the key factors that have a significant impact on the energy sector in Local Government, with the final objective of initiating policy shifts in the energy sector.

To examine the current energy landscape and to define the role of Local Government in the prospective future of energy.

• To understand how the transition manifests economically, legally, financially and institutionally for Local Government

• To pursue consensus on the political leadership in the energy sector to agree that change is necessary

• To examine the possible scenarios for South African Energy sector and to define an ideal Future Utility for Local Government

• To develop and define a framework on the country compact for the energy sector
