LOCAL GOVERNMENT MOURNS THE TRAGIC LOSS OF DEDICATED COUNCILLORS

It is with great shock and deep sadness that we learnt of the death of three Councillors from Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (Eastern Cape) over the past weekend. The Councillors met their untimely death returning from attending a course on Local Government Law and Administration; one of the capacity building programmes organised by SALGA, in partnership with University of Fort Hare.

Eleven other Councillors were injured in this accident and were admitted to hospital; others have been discharged and are recuperating from home whilst some Councillors are still in hospital. The accident reportedly took place 80km from Port Elizabeth on Sunday.
